An Amber Alert was issued for an 8-year-old girl Thursday, within hours of the discovery of a woman's body in a Maryland motel room. Relisha Tenau Rudd was last seen Feb. 26 at the D.C. Shelter for Families on the grounds of the old D.C. General Hospital in Southeast. Police think she is in the company of a man in his 50's who works at the shelter, and the man's brother-in-law, also in his 50's. While searching for the girl Thursday morning, Prince George's County Police found the body of a woman who appeared to have been beaten in a room at the Red Roof Inn in Oxon Hill. They had been going room to room there after D.C. police asked them to search the location for a connection to Rudd, reported News4's Megan McGrath. Prince George's County Police confirmed they are investigating the woman's death as a homicide. It's unclear whether the woman or her death is linked to the girl's disappearance. They had searched several rooms at the motel at 6170 Oxon Hill Road before finding the body, McGrath reported. Investigators interviewed motel guests after the discovery. Relisha Rudd remains missing. She is four feet tall and weighs 70 to 80 pounds. She has black hair, brown eyes and a medium complexion. Police said she may be in need of medication. Police said the girl was picked up at the shelter by someone known to the family, but she was never returned to her mother. She was reported missing Wednesday by her school because she hadn't been attending. The little girl may be traveling in a white 1976 GMC truck with Maryland tags 305015, and may be traveling with 51-year-old Kahlil Malik Tatum, authorities said. Earlier Thursday, police said she may also be in the company of Rickie Sheridan Lyles, but an Amber Alert sent out later that afternoon discredited his name. Two vehicles associated with those men, a red SUV and a black Honda sedan, were found in the parking lot of the Red Roof Inn. Investigators said earlier Thursday that Rudd may have been traveling in one of those vehicles. They had not initially called the girl's disappearance an abduction.
